Tip Four
Communicating effectively in diverse ethnicity: HOT-Climate versus COLD-Climate Cultures
(From In a Blink by Dr. Michael Woods)
Detailed training exists to accurately assess and address the differences and nuances of major ethnic groups. For simplicity, these complex criteria can be condensed by focusing - not on ethnic groups - but on several generalizations that commonly apply to individuals from specific geographic regions*.
Most patients can be divided into North/Cold/Task or South/Hot/Time-based cultures.
Did you know...? Almost all patients with a life threatening/serious diagnosis will exhibit Hot-Climate communication.
