Client FTP Area Layout:

 

Client ftp accounts are constructed with several folders for specific types of activity and corresponding access permissions.  It is important to understand the directory structure and the usage of each folder to avoid conflicts with access permission and to support automated interfaces that pull data from and place data in specific locations.

The Yellow highlighted areas are not used for file storage.

The Green folders are used for ftp file storage per the

 

How do I find the green ftp folders?

Once you have connected to your ftp site using the URL and authentication information provided, click on the “+” symbol to expand each directory level until you see the folder name you are looking for.

 

How do I use an ftp folder?

Put files into and out of an ftp folder using windows standard “CUT” and “PASTE” functions once the proper folder is opened and its contents are visible.

 

Why am I getting an error message?

If you receive error messages relating to permission you are probably not using the correct folder for the task at hand.  For example, you can “paste” files into the folder “To_PerforMax3” but you can only download files from “TBK_Library”.  See the list below for more information on folder usage.

 

 

Guidelines for Usage of Client FTP Folders

 

Overview: These folder are intended for the use of PerforMax3/ MaxTrax clients/customers for the collaborative development of training content, as a reference library of finished WBT and as a means of exchanging data between the MaxTrax CMS and a applications such as human resources systems that reside at the client’s facility.

 

Data Transfer_level: The “Data_Transfer” level is reserved for automated “secure” data transfer process.  The folder houses containers for data “Data_To_Client” and “Data_To_MaxTrax”.  Only secure ftp access is permitted to these containers.

Access: Client Secure FTP Process full access, PerforMax3 Administrator full access

 

TBK_Library: The “TBK_Library” folder contains the current version of the editable Toolbook files under license by the client.  These files will be maintained by PerforMax3 as a ready resource for the client to utilize for editing, updating and as templates for new training.  These source document should be “synchronized” with the content currently running on the client website.

Access: Client POC read only access, PerforMax3 Developer and Administrator full access

 

To_Client: The “To_Client” folder is used to drop off or deliver content from the PerforMax3 development team to the client.  This is the PerforMax3 outbox for content under development and other related resources.  The client will have access to download data from this folder.

To PerforMax3: The “To_PerforMax3” folder is used to drop off or deliver content from the client to the PerforMax3 development team.  This is the PerforMax3 inbox for content under development and other related resources.  The client will have permission to load data to this folder.

Access: Client POC write access, PerforMax3 Developer and Administrator full access

 

 

PLS: The “PLS” folder is the container for all content running or addressable from within MaxTrax..  Only web-ready content packages or SCO are loaded in this folder.  This folder is used by the PerforMax3 development team and MaxTrax Administrators place content on the Web.  The URL for files within the PLS folder is the source of the “lesson location” within MaxTrax lesson records.  This folder may contain subfolders.

Access: Client POC list access only, PerforMax3 Developer and Administrator full access.
